Zinc Citrate Health Line
GN Laboratoris Zinc Citrate is a zinc dosage form that has a very high bioavailability.
Zinc is an essential mineral for the body, which in other words means that the body cannot function without zinc supplied through food or supplements, as zinc is a component of over 300 vital enzymes in the body. Zinc is required, among other things, for wound healing, the correct functioning of the immune system, protein synthesis, carbohydrate and fat metabolism, the production of important anabolic hormones, and cell growth and division.

Conversely, this means that all of these important body functions will be impaired without sufficient zinc intake.
The average diet often does not provide sufficient amounts of zinc to optimally cover daily requirements, which can be particularly the case with vegetarians. Making matters worse is the fact that athletes who train intensively usually have an increased need for zinc, which is difficult to cover through food alone.

A zinc deficiency can lead to numerous deficiency symptoms, which can include poor drive, difficulty concentrating, reduced immune function, night blindness, impaired sense of taste and smell, delayed wound healing, brittle fingernails, hair loss, reduced levels of muscle-building hormones and stretch marks when building muscle quickly .

Bodybuilders and strength athletes also report accelerated regeneration between training sessions when supplementing with zinc, which may be due, among other things, to the fact that zinc is needed to repair training-induced microtraumas and regulate the level of muscle-building hormones.

Strength athletes using aromatizing anabolic steroids may also be interested in knowing that zinc at a dosage of 75 to 150 mg per day can block the aromatase enzyme, which is responsible for converting muscle-building hormones into estrogen. In this context, however, it should be taken into account that zinc accumulates in the body and high doses of zinc inhibit the absorption of copper, which is why a zinc dose of this level should only be used over a short period of time.
